Sarum College, 19 The Close, Salisbury SP1 2EE

Speakers: Dr Jamie Townes and Dr Tomas Martin, Department of Physics, University of Bristol

Early UK nuclear fission plants used a unique gas-cooling design, but
as these plants reach the end of the end of their generating lifetimes, newly
constructed UK reactors will adopt the water-cooled design used across most of
the world. This talk will cover both the history and future of nuclear power
in the UK, covering the success and failures of different reactor designs and
the challenges facing designers of present day and future nuclear power
plants.
