Speakers: Sue McGrath - Scientific Sue

An innovative, interactive show exploring Light, Sound, Electricity, Magnetism and Electromagnetism!
Join Scientific Sue on this amazing journey of scientific discovery and find out how the scientific inputs of Volta, Oersted and Faraday lay the foundations for the development of one of the most important inventions of the 20th century; the electric guitar - the key musical instrument which totally defines the tone and character of rock and roll music.
The topics of  sound, electricity, magnetism and then electromagnetism are explored in a fun and interactive fashion with the aim to explain how the magnetic pickups on an electric guitar sense vibrations and turn it into sound.
Volunteers essential!
Can’t play the guitar? No worries, as the story continues to unfold we’ll find out how today’s new technologies allow even the most musically challenged to create amazing tunes which can then be shared on social sites and maybe even sold!
