"3 Minute Wonder" is a competition for all researchers in physics related fields, academic or industrial, of postgraduate or postdoctoral level (membership of the IOP not necessary).
The aim is to explain your current research in 3 minutes to an audience of scientists who are not specialists in your field.
Presentations should be pitched appropriately for 16-18 year olds studying science at school and on the night presenters should expect an audience including a mixture of sixth formers, undergraduates, fellow post grads and more senior researchers
The audience diversity will also be reflected in the panel of 4 judges who will span teaching, journalism, research and industry.
Each 3 minute presentation will be scored in two halves by a mark out of 10 given by each judge.
The audience will also declare their "score" for each presentation via a clap-o-meter. Brief written feedback from each judge will be available at the end of the evening.
