Speakers: Dr Beth Mortimer, University of Oxford

Spider orb webs are multifunctional structures that must absorb prey impact energy and transmit sensory information to the spider. In addition, webs must perform over a range of different conditions daily, as the environment alters or as prey availability changes. This talk will introduce
this fascinating biological system and explore the control mechanisms that the spider can use to shape physical laws for biological outcomes.
