Tunnelling Art & Science 2015. A collaborative exhibition by students from UCD College of Science and NCAD Fine Art.
It opens this Tuesday, April 21st at 5pm on the ground floor of O'Brien Centre for Science UCD, in the outreach labs beside Pi restaurant.
2015 is The International Year of Light and the students have worked with painting, sculpture, installation, sound and video to understand and share ideas on the subject. They've worked together in the studios at NCAD and in the lab/studios at UCD College of Science.
Included in the exhibition is a stunning piece of work created with 5km of fishing line, 15m of wooden dowels and 28 retort stand clamps. Threaded across the main stairwell of the 3rd and 4th floors, it's called Fermat's Piano, after the physicist who proposed a principle that governs the path that light can take. Created by Mauro de Luca (3rd yr Theoretical Physics), Michele Hetherington (2nd yr Fine Art Print) and David Rogers (3rd yr Physics with Astronomy and Space Science)
Exhibition runs from 22nd April-30th April.
