Speakers: David Freeman

The transmission of most of our data is digital these days, but we are still an analogue life form. Newspapers and books arrive as digital files but have to be converted into something our analogue eyes can understand. It’s the same with music. This talk is about how sound waves were first captured on fragile spinning wax cylinders and how this beautiful simple technology evolved into shellac disc records.
