What is a Quantum Computer?

Speakers: Dr Dan Browne of University College London

Quantum technologies aim to harness quantum effects to perform otherwise impossible tasks. Dr Dan Browne is Director of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Delivering Quantum Technologies and a researcher in quantum computing theory at University College London. In this talk, he will attempt to answer the question of what a quantum computer is, the key quantum effects that it would rely on, and some of the latest approaches towards building one.

The talk will begin at 18:30, with refreshments from 18:15.
